On 5/10/08, Mary sent these photos of her long fin white cloud mountain minnows. Yes even up here in Toronto the so called “Feeder” white cloud has become more a staple over the feeder guppies and rosy reds… The shame in this is that the stores won’t bring in the white clouds meant for the community aquarium, not even the golden variety anymore. I’m still trying to get the Longfin variety in but they seem to be more popular in Europe and Asia so they’re rarely shipped to North America.

A quick video of my gravid Longfin White Cloud Minnows (Tanichthys albonubes) . There are other male and female "standard" fin White clouds. Sorry about the auto-focusing on the camera.

A rare long-finned version of the white cloud is absolutely gorgeous

With my gold varieties I've noticed differences. The ruby gold's fins begin to develop early, while the long finned ones take up to 9 months. Long fin gold juveniles look like those cheapo standard gold ones sold at Petco. I recently had a customer complain and insist his were standard, I own no standard White Clouds. I promised to give back his money if the fins were not long in 6 months, and told him to keep the email to refresh my memory, if needed.Long Fin White Clouds are omnivores and should be fed a diet of flake foods with plenty of vegetable matter, as well as freeze-dried bloodworms and tubifex. This easy to keep minnow will do well in the community aquarium with other peaceful fish. If kept in a school of eight or more, the Long Fin White Cloud will be more active and colorful.Long Fin White Clouds are omnivores and should be fed a diet of flake foods with plenty of vegetable matter, as well as freeze-dried bloodworms and tubifex.
